A weird twist of events, a cast spell, and questionable, magical candies lead to Jay getting hold of Lexie's 'Vent Book' and the answer to all his prayers. In exchange for keeping her secrets, she promises to "date" him, introducing Jay to the elite circles at their high school.

With his amateur witch grandmother shoving more candy boxes at him, things are going from weird to I-know-what-you-did-last-summer.

Lexie isn't Ms. Snob-in-stilettos but something more than he bargained for. As his new popularity grows, his emotions unravel and he finds himself hoping for something more with Lexie. That is if he can stop his grandmother and her friends from interfering.

Opening paragraph:

Pain lanced through her joints as if Paris had severed her Achilles heel. She hissed, limping and shuffling. "Mind checking the brakes on your walker, Marilyn? It's the third time you've hit my ankles with those damn wheels."

"Sorry, Louise. My bad."

When your friend's walker creates a deafening ruckus over the grouted one-foot square tiles from your shared bedroom of the 'Sweet Days' Retirement Villa to the kitchen, you ponder if this night's escapade was the right call.

"It's just so dark in here." She squints her myopic eyes like a madwoman as she hits me a fourth time. The poor walker struggles under her weight, squeaking and gurgling in protest throughout the open floor plan. Horses gallop over cobblestones with more finesse. Weren't there walker wheels like silicone, or a softer rubber on sale? Damn it.
